Our Savior's Lutheran Church

The Worship Center is located in a residential neighborhood that has developed over the past twenty-five years. Growth of this area prompted the Church to construct a Worship Center to seat five hundred with a choir loft to accommodate seventy-five. The Center also included four additional classrooms and administrative offices.
In resolving with the foregoing requirements, the Church's direction to the Architect was to create a structure compatible with architecture of the existing complex and dynamically appropriate to its purpose (religious landmark) evoking ecclesiastical references to achieve a sense of comfort through familiar forms and details. The use of basic materials, natural light, structural forms and space sequence were utilized to achieve this end.
Existing site condition and building geometry were favorable to locating the new Sanctuary so that it addressed two prominent intersecting streets and consequently becomes a focal point in the area.
Exterior forms ascent in skylight topped masonry elements that terminate with the symbolic bell tower. Internally, the space and light sequence build from the Narthex entry to the chancel dais (beneath the tower), which is accentuated by a Gothic arch. Light wells developed beneath the skylights serve as light sources separated from the Nave by a vertical lattice screen that allows for future back lit stained glass along the entire screen surfaces.
